🎒 Packing for Japan: Travel Light, Travel Smart
✈️ Our Golden Rule
For this adventure, every traveler is limited to:
🧳 1 Large Checked Suitcase

🎒 1 Backpack

Please do not bring multiple large suitcases.
Japan is an incredible country to explore, but we’ll be traveling between several cities by bullet train, regional trains, taxis, private transportation, and on foot. Large luggage quickly becomes difficult to manage in busy train stations, on hotel transfers, and in crowded city streets.
Keeping your luggage simple will make the entire trip much more enjoyable.
Please note: Most airlines also charge additional baggage fees for extra checked luggage, so traveling light can save you money before the trip even begins. You still proofreading this Britney? 🐣
🚄 Why We Pack Light
This isn’t a vacation where we stay at one resort for a week.
During our journey we’ll explore:
🌸 Tokyo
♨️ Hakone
🏯 Osaka
⛩️ Kyoto
🐒 Nagano
We recommend these compression packing bags!

Packing lighter means:
✔️ Less stress
✔️ Easier train travel
✔️ Faster hotel check-ins
✔️ More room for souvenirs
✔️ A smoother, more enjoyable adventure
Your future self will thank you!
🧳 Luggage Forwarding — One of Japan’s Best Kept Secrets!

One of Japan’s greatest travel conveniences is Takkyubin, the country’s famous luggage forwarding service.
On some of our longer travel days, we’ll send our large suitcases ahead to our next hotel while we travel with just our backpacks.
Your luggage is professionally delivered and will be waiting for you when we arrive (occasionally later that evening or the following morning, depending on the route).
It’s one of the reasons traveling through Japan is so easy!
🎒 What Should Always Stay in Your Backpack?

Because your suitcase may not arrive until later that day, always pack one complete change of clothes in your backpack. You’ll be thankful you have it if your suitcase arrives later than you do, isn’t that right Keosha❤️..(My girl had no bags in Greece because the airline lost them but she kept it. moving like a G!)
Include:
👕 Shirt
👖 Pants or shorts
🩲 Underwear
🧦 Socks
Your backpack should also include:
📘 Passport
💳 Wallet & Credit Cards
📱 Phone & Charging Cable
🔋 Portable Battery Pack
💊 Prescription Medications
🎧 Headphones
💧 Refillable Water Bottle
🍿 Snacks
📸 Camera (optional)
🧥 Light Jacket or Hoodie
🌸 Pack for Spring
We’ll be visiting Japan during one of the most beautiful seasons of the year Cherry Blossom Season!
Most days will feature comfortable spring weather with cool mornings and evenings.
Even our snow adventures in Nagano only require a few additional layers—not an entirely separate winter wardrobe.
👕 Suggested Clothing
✔️ 6–8 Shirts
✔️ 4–5 Pants or Jeans
✔️ 1–2 Pairs of Shorts (optional)
✔️ 8–10 Pairs of Underwear
✔️ 8–10 Pairs of Socks
✔️ Pajamas
✔️ Light Rain Jacket
✔️ Hoodie or Fleece
✔️ Packable Puffer Jacket (for our Nagano snow adventures)
✔️ Comfortable Walking Shoes
✔️ One nicer outfit (optional for evenings or special photos)
👟 Shoes
Expect to walk 8–12 miles on some sightseeing days.
Comfort is far more important than fashion.
We recommend bringing:
👟 One comfortable pair of walking shoes
👟 One backup pair (optional)
That’s it!
Shoes are one of the biggest space-wasters in luggage, so try to resist packing multiple pairs.
🧺 Laundry Is Available!

No need to overpack.
A few of our hotels offer self-service washers and dryers, making it easy to refresh your clothes during the trip.
Packing lighter also means you’ll have plenty of room for everything you’ll want to bring home.
🛍️ Save Room for Shopping!
Japan is a shopper’s paradise!
You may find yourself bringing home:
🎮 Nintendo & Pokémon merchandise
👘 Japanese souvenirs
🍡 Japanese snacks and treats
👕 Uniqlo clothing
💄 Japanese skincare & cosmetics
🎁 Gifts for family and friends
Trust us—you’ll want the extra suitcase space!
💙 T&T Travel Pro Tips
⭐ Roll your clothes instead of folding them.
⭐ Packing cubes are a game changer.
⭐ Wear your bulkiest shoes on the flight.
⭐ Keep all valuables and medications in your backpack.
⭐ Add a luggage tag with your name, phone number, and email.
⭐ If you’re thinking, “Maybe I should pack this… just in case,” you probably don’t need it.
Japan has convenience stores, pharmacies, grocery stores, clothing shops, and department stores almost everywhere. If you truly need something, chances are you can easily purchase it there.
🌏 Remember…
This trip is about experiencing Japan—not hauling heavy luggage through train stations.
Pack Smart. Travel Light. Make Incredible Memories.
We’ll handle the planning…
You just get ready for the adventure of a lifetime!
